The route that leads to the village of El Atazar is a must-do for Madrid riders. And for those with a off-road capable bike, the Camino de Robledillo has to be on your to-do list!

El Atazar - el Camino de Robledillo

To get to el Atazar from Madrid, take the A1 highway and take at exit 50 towards Torrelaguna. Then continue on the M-102 towards Pantones and keep going on the M-102 until you reach the M-134. This is where it gets interesting.

The windy M-134 will take you first to stunning view point from which you can admire the dam of el Atazar and its reservoir.

Then the road will take you over the dam to finally reach the small village of Atazar. El Atazar is a typical spanish village with its old church and its bar where you will meet other riders sipping a beer and enjoying the sun. Nothing to do really except looking at the landscape and getting a nice break before getting back on your ride. There are probably some nice walks to do around if you brought your hiking shoes.

El Camino de Robledillo

This section is more dedicated to riders with a multi-purpose bike. The Camino de Robledillo starts from El Atazar and takes you through the sierra on a sand/gravel road. Nothing challenging there though. My F800GS is equipped with road tires, the Tourance Next, and despite a few sikds, I really enjoyed myself. Furthermore, there are some great pictures to capture along the way.

Few minutes after passing Robledillo and you are back on the road on your way back to Torrelaguna, do not miss the dam of Villar and its canyon - beautiful!
