First thing I notice is the look. The retro style of the bike is really beautiful and you already imagine yourself going around the city and to the beach on this little jewel.
Second thing I notice, it is a lot smaller than I expected. I am 184cm; I had read some reviews on the Internet about guys taller than me saying that the bike was comfortable and that you could ride it off-road and have a lots of fun. I was starting to doubt it, but I kept an open-mind.
The bike is very simple. One button to turn-it on and turn-it off, the button for the signals, and that's it. No additional features to improve the bike capabilities or comfort if you decide to go on a longer trip.
On the road, the bike is amazing. You can really feel the 800cc and 75hp under the throttle. The bike is light, easy to handle, and offer a good seating position. It is just pure joy to be riding it and take full advantage of its motor.
However, after 20mn riding, I could already feel that my legs were starting to feel uncomfortable. Today, my ride is the F800GS, perfect for tall riders, so I was expecting that seating on this smaller bike would not be easy at first. What I really understood, is that this bike would just not do for long trips, over weekends, weeks or even longer. It is just too small for my 184cm.
Standing up on the bike like you would do going off-road was even a worst experience. I had to break my back to keep my hands on the handle.
I did not need to know more than that. The Ducati Scrambler is a dream city bike and perfect for going out during the weekends but not too far away. For longer trips, the seat and suspensions are too hard, and it is just too small for a tall guy. So I will keep my F800GS for a while longer, maybe forever.
